Brian Sherman Voiceover

Alternative Chicago (Alt-Chi) came on the air June 30th 2011 not long after the news that Q101 was going off the air became reality.

Our purpose was to fill a void. The void Q101 left. Alternative rock music, along with local artists for Chicago. The only difference? It's on the internet instead of the FM Radio.

As an independant internet station, we make absolutely no money. We spend money. I am actually one person. I pay out streaming fees, play music, and ask for imput. I do this in memory of Q101, and most importantly for the love of this music, and for the fans of this music in the Chicagoland area. You know who you are. There is a passion here that is very strong.

Every radio station has a voiceguy, a pre recorded voice saying the station's name in between songs. From the time we launched, that guy was myself.

This fall, a longtime Q101 personality Brian Sherman (who is unfortunately still looking for work) started his own voiceover business Brian Sherman Voiceover. Brian Sherman is a very talented person, and I am pleased to be in business with him. He is now the main station voice on Alternative Chicago.

So not only do you get great alternative music on Alt-Chi, you now have a familiar voice saying the station name. Hopefully in some way or some form, this will make you feel at home here.
